Who we are
Boxlit Theatre reimagines classical texts using a combination of live theatre, cinematic projection and evocative music to bring stories alive for a younger audience. Performed by a cast of dynamic, classically trained professional actors, with a passion for making Shakespeare accessible to young people. All performed in a pop-up glowing white box!
What we offer
A 60 minute abridged performance of Romeo and Juliet in which Shakespeare’s original language has not been altered. Two actors, taking on several roles, provide a truly innovative style of story-telling. This fully staged adaptation includes all of the key scenes and characters and was created to be completely accessible and clear for KS3 and KS4 students. Followed by a Q&A with the Actors after the performance.
Approaches to understanding Shakespearean language, exploring the imagery and the emotions of the characters are just some of the topics we cover during the Q&A.
Our actors can pitch the performance to suit students in KS3 and KS4, the performance is also suitable for Sixth Form and college students.
We can work with a maximum of 190 students. Many schools prefer to book two performances on the same day so that we can work with smaller groups.
Do the students have to be familiar with the play?
No, students don’t need to have studied the play prior to seeing the show.
When can you book?
We are now taking bookings for the academic year 2018-2019. Please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to make a booking.
Where does the performance take place?
We can perform the show in your school hall/ theatre/ lecture hall. The show works best if we can achieve a black-out so that the film projection is more visible. The staging is end-on, students sit directly in front of the stage.
One show (60 minute performance & 30 Q&A) - £490
Two shows on the same day - £784 (20% discount)
